Background
The Pee Dee Food Show was created in October 2011 as a regional, niche Internet radio show (podcast) produced by PeeDeeFoodie.com. It is an essential companion to the website, as it provides a forum for in-depth topic discussion and a level of interactivity not possible with the written word. As with most podcasts, it is free and available through direct RSS feed and via most commonly used podcast services, including iTunes.
The show is hosted by Kevin Barron, it’s producer, and guests are welcomed from all areas of the region’s food culture — from farmers and producers to retailers and restauranteurs. Each episode is sponsored by Miller Communications and our blog’s title sponsor. Two episodes are recorded approximately biweekly in the “Good Morning Pee Dee” studio at the Miller production facility. The address is 2425 Walker Swinton Road in Timmonsville, South Carolina.
As of April 15, 2013, we’ve measured well over 30,000 episode downloads representing over 15,000 hours of listener commitment. The numbers keep growing because the audience for this locally-focused and locally-produced Internet radio show is loyal and engaged. Episodes are permanently published online and available 24/7/365.
Production Schedule
The production schedule now calls for 48 new episodes per year. As in the past, episodes will consist of local interviews, topic-based roundtable discussions, and/or nonprofit event previews and reviews.
Episode release days will be moved to Sundays/Mondays, as that seems to be the best time of the week for listeners. Episodes had been released on Fridays.
