As last year, the highlight will be a Chef’s Competition. Competitors will include Helen Doulaveris of Venus Restaurant & Catering, Patty Griffey of Abingdon Manor, Jesse Vaughn of Hilton Garden Inn Florence, Wade, Jason, and Justin Atlman of Lake City Country Club, and Bryan Tayara of Orangeland Fish & Seafood. Also competing are Anna Toniolo of Stefano’s, Jimmy John’s, New York Butcher Shoppe, LaVance McIver of Methodist Manor, Suzanne Galloway of Victor’s Bistro & Catering. Awards will be given for People’s Choice for Caterers and Cooks representing the various Florence County Library System Branches

In addition to the much anticipated competition, food, beverages, entertainment, silent auction, and of course, boiled peanuts courtesy of McCall Farms! Chef judging will be by acclaimed cookbook author Virginia Willis.
Willis is the author of the acclaimed cookbook, Bon Appétit, Y’all! Recipes and Stories from Three Generations of Southern Cooking (Ten Speed Press, 2008). Her latest book, Basic to Brilliant, Y’all: 150 Refined Southern Recipes and Ways to Dress Them Up for Company (Ten Speed Press, 2011) was rated as one of the top rated cookbooks of 2011. Virginia was also recently named by the Chicago Tribune as one of “Seven Food Writers You Need to Know.”
