• August 13, 2012 • Comments (0)

The Florence Area Literacy Council is in danger! This critical non-profit organization needs our community-wide attention.

Event Information

Come join us for the 1st Annual Kicking Illiteracy Countdown to Kickoff Tailgate Party! The event will be held at Palmetto Peddlers on Saturday, August 25th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  The entry cost is $10 per person with children 10 years and under Free.

Y’all know you like to tailgate before your favorite football team’s games! Bring your tents, grills, ice chests, anything that you take with you to tailgate. We will have two contests to show us  just how much you L-O-V-E your favorite college or professional football team.

Are you your team’s ultimate fan? Do you and your family and friends have your team’s best tailgating spot? Show us and you can win prizes! Remember, this IS a family event.

Battle of the Wings Cook-off Contest

In recent years, much has been made about the edibles that are produced while tailgating; it isn’t just hot dogs and hamburgers on a grill any more. At this Kickoff Tailgate Party, we want you to cook your best chicken wings and enter the Battle of the Wings Cook-off Contest. Do you marinate them for over 24 hours? Do you create your sauce from scratch? If so, do you have a special secret ingredient? If you are interested, please contact us at to enter. There is no entry fee to join this contest. All entrants welcome!

In addition, there will be a cornhole tournament, food and drink vendors, games, music and much more fun! For ticket information, please call (843) 667-1908. Even if you are unable to attend, we are asking that you send in whatever dollar amount possible to the Florence Area Literacy Council. We hope to see you on Saturday, August 25th!
