Healthy Eating will be Emphasized at the 2012 Health & Harmony Festival

• August 5, 2012 • Comments (0)

Join us Downtown on August 11th

In what has become a highly-anticipate annual tradition, Florence’s Community Health Center, Hope Health, will again join local organizations to promote wellness, promote healthy eating, and have some fun. It’s called the HEALTH & HARMONY FESTIVAL.

Join us at 9:00 AM on August 11 for the main event sponsored by Long’s Drugs. When you do, you’ll experience live music, free health screenings, healthy food selections from local vendors, cooking demonstrations by people you’ve read about here on PeeDeeFoodie.com, exercise demonstrations, fun activities for kids and much more. The location is the Breezeway on the 100 block of West Evans, downtown Florence, South Carolina. It’s the same location as the weekly Wednesday Downtown Farmers Market.

For our part here, we’ll be joined at our Pee Dee Foodie Booth by Sarah Travis, contributing blogger, who will prepare her often requested No-Bake Granola Bites and share how Juicing can boost your health and teach you a lot about yourself. Also at our booth will be Nicole Echols, representing Harvest Hope Food Bank of the Pee Dee. Bring your non-perishable food items and donate them on that date. If you join us in support of Harvest Hope Food Bank, it will make a difference.

Healthy Eating can be a lot of fun. Join us and find out!

Rocky and Jannie Dickson from Dickson Organics will be there cooking various Roasted Root Vegetables. Kitty Finklea and Anita Longan from On Track Lifestyles will be there to speak hourly near the music stage about the benefits of non-processed versus natural foods for kids. Taste tests will ask you to determine which is which. Stacy Atkinson of Lone Palmetto Farms will be there as a vendor offering their locally-grown and prepared products. Deb Sidbury of the Healthy Food Store will also be there to provide tips and information. Including these food-focused volunteers, there are expected to be around 30 different vendors represented so there literally be something of interest for everyone that attends.

Look for us and our Pee Dee Foodie banner, then come say, “Hi.” We hope to see you there!
