Saturdays with Sarah: Eating Healthy on Vacation, Part 2
Happy Saturday!
Okay everyone, here we are! Spring is in full swing and Summer is on its way. So what do we do when the weather is warm and lovely and all we wanna do is be outside? We go on vacation. And for many of us here in the Florence area, we go to the beach!! A simple hour-ish drive and we are enjoying the sand, sun, fun shopping, and great dining.
If you are heading to the Myrtle Beach area and want to go out to a nice dinner but still want to eat healthy, I have a suggestion for you! Market Common has this great restaurant, Gordon Biersch. Click here to see their website.
GB currently has their Spring Menu out, and it has tons of fresh, healthy menu items that are absolutely delicious! And on their Regular Menu (Click Here to see the regular menu), they have an “Lighter Side” section with meals under 575 calories. But the most exciting part, on the back of the spring menu is a VEGETARIAN MENU! I was delighted to see this. I wish more restaurants would have something like this. The spring and vegetarian menu aren’t on the website, so here’s a picture of the vegetarian menu.
I decided on the vegetarian tacos while I was at GB on my last visit. They had avocado, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, pico de gallo, annnd I think that’s it. Here’s a picture.
It was delicious and wonderful and NOT overly filling to where you wish you had your stretchy pants on. And if having fries freaks you out, share them with the person who is there with you! That’s what my friends and I did. I’m telling you, if you want to go to the beach and eat healthy but still go to a fun restaurant, go to Gordon Biersch! I know you’ll enjoy it.
More proof that it IS possible to stay healthy even while on vacation! Take care and have a great rest of your weekend!
See you next Saturday,
Sarah
