Watching My Weight: Week 6
Welcome back to this sixth edition of Watching My Weight. Again, many friends and supporters have stayed with me and read these updates. That is great encouragement and means a lot to me, personally. This weeks update will hit all the pertinent points, but will be a bit shorter than usual. It’s mostly a Thank You note. To whom, you’ll see toward the end.
For now, as is customary, here’s a quick recap of my commitment. I’m using Weight Watchers® Online for Men for my weight loss plan and the related iPhone application. My weekly blog posts are for the dual purposes of (a) adding to my own accountability for results, and (b) providing possible encouragement to others who may be on the same path. All costs of the program are being paid personally. In my post last week I shared a very positive week. This week saw another bit of progress, even though that progress was less marked. So, on to what happened in Week 6.
Past Week’s Results
I now have an accumulated loss of 19.2 pounds (~5%) according to my trusty WW44 scale. That’s a two pound loss over last week and puts me just under 50% of my initial goal. Not stellar, but progress nonetheless. In aggregate, last week, I had 536 points allotted through the program and I completed the week with 423 points used. That’s a small decrease from last week. I hope to remain highly conscious of my points use and adjust as needed. As you’ll note if you’re familiar with the program, I’m still using well over what the typical person on the program is assigned. The good thing is that I have a lot of room remaining in my points budget for cutting back further. Gotta think positively!
The updated graph that I’ve created for both weight and points tracking is pasted below:

Personal Observations
No profound dieting wisdom to share this time around. Truthfully, last week really felt like an unending challenge. From home to office It was seemingly busier and more personally challenging than usual. In the end, however, God took care of it all.
We capped the week with a Saturday evening church service where I truly felt God working in my heart. It was powerful and I’m not ashamed to say that it actually brought me to tears at one point. If you’ve felt that warmth; that true calling from Him you know exactly what I mean. I’ve felt in the past, but it’s been a while. I typically let the worries of the world wedge themselves between Him and me, but those seemed to slip away during the sermon this week. The week couldn’t have ended more positively, spiritually-speaking.
For a completely different reason, I have to count myself thankful again today to spite my continued battle of the bulge. Our website’s server was unusually slow, so it kept me from tinkering all afternoon. Without that preoccupation, I wound up spending most of the day with with my Mrs. and daughter on the couch. We watched re-runs of Columbo and Inspector Lewis on Netflix and simply enjoyed our time together. A quiet Sunday is a blessing in many ways, especially with family.
So, to God, I want to publicly say, “Thank you for making provisions in my life for what I need, just when I need them. Amen.” Have a great week, everyone.
Goals for Next Week
1. Complete the week having enjoyed my meals, but remaining below my weekly points allocation;
2. Remain below my daily points allocation for each day of the week;
3. Continue to lose weight toward my total initial goal of 40 pounds.
As always, I welcome your suggestions and feedback.
