When we launched our new podcast a couple of weeks ago, we knew that doing a companion podcast for PeeDeeFoodie.com™ was going to be a lot of fun and a great addition to the foodie community’s collective conversation about our region. What we didn’t know was the best way to go about doing that. We have learned a lot since then and the net result is now going to be called the Pee Dee Food Show.
Why Change the RSS Feeds and Name?
With that steep learning curve in mind, you will soon note that the PeeDeeFoodCAST is gone from iTunes and our links here on the blog. Essentially a change in the behind the scenes resources used to produce the podcast and control the associated RSS feed was needed and has now taken place thanks to the great folks over at LibSyn.com, Feeburner.com, and iTunes. This now ensures that PeeDeeFoodie.com™ owns the feed surrounding this podcast. Without the change, that would not necessarily be the case.
I would be remiss if I didn’t send a shout-out to the Podcast Answer Man, Cliff Ravenscraft, at PodcastAnswerMan.com for the advice we obtained through listening to his podcast about (what else?) podcasting. Need answers? Cliff is the Man.
Why the “Pee Dee Food Show”?
So as not to let a good opportunity go to waste, we also took a hard look at the name of the podcast, itself. While we had some excellent suggestions during our naming contest and while we ultimately started this adventure with the “food cast” moniker, I made an executive decision to broaden its appeal and warm it up a bit. Comments we received, and my own thoughts, indicated that it sounded more technical than foodie-friendly. It also didn’t represent the style of the show, which is intended to have a more casual and hometown feel.
As such, the name of the podcast will now be the Pee Dee Food Show. The Pee Dee Food Show is now your audio home for the food, foodies, and food culture of the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina. The name is more casual, more reminiscent of hometown radio, and offers possibilities for the future. Video anyone?
Thanks for your patience as we live and learn about podcasting. We can’t wait to see what this new medium will do for the expansion of and networking within the foodie community. Below are the first two episodes, now linked to our new Feedburner and iTunes feeds. Please listen and enjoy!
