Pee Dee Foodie • August 2, 2010 • Comments (2)

WELCOME to the August 2010 “It’s Carnival Time” edition of the Pee Dee Blog Carnival.  Our new, Pee Dee-centric blog carnival will bring you the featured work of bloggers who live, work and play across the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina.  Participation is open to all bloggers working in the Pee Dee, subject to the simple rules of participation that can be found here.  Without further delay, let’s get this Blog Carnival started with our Featured Blogs!

ACT ONE  –  Martha Davis.  Martha presents a blog post from THE MOTT SPOTT.  Martha helped launch a Nashville superstar. Really.  Want the backstory?  You’re in luck, it’s her featured post for this month: “My (Indirect) Claim to Fame”.

ACT TWO — Next, Whitney Meade presents “The Hero Inside”.  This post was created to celebrate the heroes that work quietly to change lives through the United Way of Florence.  Her blog is THE MEADE FEED.  Don’t miss this video, it’s a heart-warmer.

ACT THREE — Christine Zigler joins the fun with with a wonderful post called “Garden Glam” from her blog, THE PRODUCTIVE NONCONFORMIST.  Christine says she is “working to achieve her dreams, without living inside the box.”  Here, she looks for (and finds) the extraordinary at a local Florence garden shop.

ACT FOUR – Sloane Spencer, local radio personality at Cumulus Media and “chief genius” at COUNTRYFRIEDROCK.COM offers up a true triple-play of musical posts and background on artists you may not want to miss.  First, it’s “Floramay Holliday Looks Lyle Lovett in the Eyes”, then “Back Row Baptists: No Explanation Needed Down South” and finally, it’s “Doug McCormick: Don’t Threaten Me with a Good Time”

ACT FIVE — Scott Parks of the Florence County Planning Department takes a page from the FLORENCE COUNTY PLANNING BLOG and shares details about qualifications for and access to “Affordable Housing” in Florence County.  The blog notes that “The economy has certainly placed many citizens in a situation that they never thought they would be in. With unemployment resulting in foreclosure, many are faced with the problem of “no where to go.”  This information may be of help to someone that you know or know of.

ACT SIX — “The Flossip”, the quintessential hyper-local blogger, offers her hearty “Welcome” to newcomers to her blog and to Florence.  Found at THEFLOSSIP.COM, it’s often imitated, but never duplicated.  The Flossip is one for your Favorites list and a huge resource for “reviews, to-do’s and not quite news.”

ACT SEVEN – An anonymous blogger that goes by the name “Pee Dee Foodie” and his blog, PEEDEEFOODIE.COM bring to the table something that’s “Local, Fresh and In-Season”.   The author of this particular guest post is Greg Hyman, owner Hyman Vineyards in Conway.   Greg is an industry expert and is wildly passionate about all things that are Certified SC Grown.   Also, Pee Dee Foodie, himself, offers up a taste of Surfside Beach with his own recent Quick Bite review and experience recap of Cecil Chandler’s own “Cecil’s Italian Grill”.

Well carnival-goers, that concludes the very first edition of the Pee Dee Blog Carnival.  Thanks for joining us!  Of course, that doesn’t mean good-bye, just that we’ll be right back.  It’s time to start thinking about the September 2010 edition.

WANT TO JOIN THE CARNIVAL?   If you are a local blogger and would like to contribute to the next edition, simply use our Pee Dee Blog Carnival - Participation Form.  The September Edition will be hosted by Sloane at CountryFriedRock.com
