As fellow users of Twitter, you know that Fridays are often marked by the use of the “#FF” hashtag, denoting other Twitter users that the poster suggests we follow. Today, however, I’m doing something a little different. Today, for me anyway, I’ll be using “#TYF”, standing for “Thank You Friday” instead of Follow Friday. This will designate people that you should follow, because they have been positive influences in my and many others’ lives, as well as some general statements of appreciation.
Why? Glad you asked.
Yesterday, I had a pretty major health scare. Thanks to the excellent doctors, nurses, and techs that cared for me, I believe all turned out alright. To God, and those good people, I am truly grateful.
I am also grateful to you as PeeDeeFoodie.com readers, family, friends, and fellow foodies of the Pee Dee region and beyond. Your prayers and well-wishes made a difference to my wife and I, as the day wore on and the tests proceeded. It’s a privilege to write and record our articles and podcasts for you, and I am thrilled that I will be able to continue to do so.
So, head over to my Twitter profile, if you’re curious about for whom I am thankful. I’ll be posting thoughts periodically throughout the day.
Thanks for reading PeeDeeFoodie.com and for listening to our weekly podcast, the Pee Dee Food Show. Have a great #TYF and may we all see many, many more.

From the heart of the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina, welcome to the Pee Dee Food Show! In Episode 11 – Cajuns in the Kitchen, I turn the microphone over to Mrs. Pee Dee Foodie who is talking with her mother, Mae, about their Cajun heritage and the cooking traditions of their family and friends. That bit of Cajun influence is our household and right here in the Pee Dee, a well. From gumbo and potato stew, to stuffed cabbage and jambalaya — it’s all in there. Recipes for two of the dishes will be posted on PeeDeeFoodie.com in the future. Look for them soon.

From the heart of the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina, welcome to the Pee Dee Food Show! In Episode 10 we’re taking a look back at 2011 — a big, Big, BIG year for us — and celebrating our second year on the web. The episode features Mrs. Pee Dee Foodie, Garin Dickerson, and Alan Cooke. Many thanks to Dave Baker, Tom Kinard, and everyone at Miller Communications for the use of the studio and their support.
On Thursday, January 11th at about 8:10am, I was a guest on Star 93.7′s Kinard-n-Koffee with Tom Kinard. It was a whole lot of fun talking food, foodies, and food culture with Tom. Where does Tom recommend for great local barbecue? What’s the food identity of the Pee Dee? We talked about that and a lot more. Here are a few photos from the visit.

This month’s velvety sauce is a rich addition to many desserts — Amaretto Cream. It is pictured here paired with a chocolate terrine but is wonderful with poached pears or baked apples. Remember if you have any questions about the recipes we send out or something you have had for dinner here you can always call or email… technical support is always available.
